    A Chair Pear Adventure

    A few years ago, when I signed up for ANOTHER fitness challenge, I thought about my personal challenge with fitness. I knew I wasn’t a couch potato. Who had time for lounging on the couch watching TV? Not me. But I wasn’t the picture of health and vitality either, and frankly, I didn’t (and still don’t) enjoy the gym culture.  I decided I was more a Chair Pear than a Couch Potato. While my body did not get up and move, my mind was active. Okay, so I have an active mind. Great! Now, what about the rest of me? Time to put that “active” mind to work. I’ve thought about what it means to be a Chair Pear. How “Chair Peardom” (as I refer to it) is a way of life for many of us. We enjoy activities that do not require us to move, or even stand up.…
